Hello there.

Meet Abby

OWNER & LEAD PHOTOGRAPHER

Hello! I'm Abby, your friendly neighborhood photographer.

I was born & raised in Nashville, TN and graduated from Belmont University (go Bruins)! For the past 9 years, I've been immersed in the world of photography, and it's been an incredible journey. I picked up photography as a hobby when I was just 13 years old, fell in love with it, and started my business a few years later!

I specialize in editorial, fine art, and lifestyle photography. My style is a blend of warmth, romance, moodiness, and classic elegance. Beyond photography, I also wear another hat as the owner of Kindly The Studio, a creative company that specializes in custom branding, website design, brand photos, and more.

Fun Facts About Abby

I am a Nashville native.

I was born & raised in the Nashville area! I may be biased, but I think it’s one of the best cities out there. It has grown so much in the past 10 years, and I’m so exited to see how it changes in the future!

I studied Hebrew in college.

Fun fact about me - I’m a nerd when it comes to learning languages. I think it’s so cool! I needed a language class for one of my major requirements, and I chose Hebrew because I found it fascinating. I ended up falling in love with it, making it my minor, and studying it all 4 years of college.

I don’t like cilantro (I wish I did).

I, unfortunately, cannot stand the taste of cilantro. But, it’s not for a lack of trying! It’s actually a genetic thing. I believe it’s called the OR6A2 gene or, more commonly referred to as, “the soap gene”.

I am a classically trained violinist.

I come from a family of creative people who always encouraged me to explore the things I’m interested in and the things I’m passionate about. When I was 5 years old, I decided I wanted to play the violin. I started taking lessons, and it quickly became a very big part of my life. I ended up touring with a youth violin ensemble for several years, and I had a blast! While I no longer tour or play in an orchestra, I still pick it up from time to time to make sure I haven’t forgotten everything I’ve ever learned.

I started photography as a hobby.

In addition to coming from a family of creative people, I also come from a family of entrepreneurs. I always expected myself to follow a creative career path, but I never planned on being a business owner. When I was 13 years old, my dad bought a camera and let me borrow it. I remember running around and taking photos of anything I could find - nature, musical instruments, animals. He noticed that photography had sparked my interest, and he gave me the camera to use. Eventually, I started taking photos of my friends, learning to adjust settings on my camera, practicing and improving my technical skills. The more I learned, the more I fell in love with it, and I decided I wanted to start my business. So, at 16 years old, I officially launched Abby Sholar Photography.
